The freshwater pearl mussel Margaritifera margaritifera is considered to be the most rapidly declining species of bivalve, whereas its colonies in rivers White Sea Basin remain numerous world. lipid profiles mantle, muscle (foot), and digestive gland tissues from Kem, Ukhta, Vozhma Rivers autumn (end September, early October) were studied using high performance thin-layer chromatography. highest total [TL] content was found gland. Cholesterol esters, non-esterified fatty acids, phospholipids, cholesterol dominant lipids all tissues. reduced triacylglycerol mussels associated with utilization during spawning period. colony inhabiting River distinguished by higher TL mantle Data on size-age characteristics mollusks relationship between structural storage parameters are discussed. results important for different conservation strategies endangered species, such as mussel, especially ecological monitoring based evaluation physiological biochemical state rare natural colonies.
